Property Poles & Underground Power — Noosa Region

New property pole installations, underground power runs and rural electrical connections across Noosa and the Sunshine Coast hinterland. All work certified.

Property Poles and Underground Runs Done Right

Rural and hinterland properties around Noosa — Cooroy, Kin Kin, Pomona, Boreen Point and beyond — often need electrical work that suburban electricians don't handle regularly. Property poles, underground cable runs from the street to the house, rural switchboards, and connections for sheds, dams and outbuildings all require experience with the specific requirements of rural sites.

We've done underground power runs and property pole installations across the Noosa hinterland and surrounding areas. We handle the electrical side and coordinate with Energex where a network connection is needed. All work is tested, certified and compliant with QLD electrical standards.

If you're building on a rural block, adding a second structure on your property, or need to replace an ageing service pole, call Steve on 0423 181 744 to talk through what's involved.

What Goes Into a Property Pole Job

Property pole installations involve a few steps that new property owners may not be familiar with:

  1. Site assessment — We look at the block, the proposed build location, distance from the street, and what supply capacity you need now and in the future.
  2. Energex application — A new connection requires an Energex application. We handle the electrical side and help you understand the process.
  3. Cable route planning — We design the underground route to avoid trees, slopes and other services, and ensure correct burial depths.
  4. Installation and testing — Pole, cable, weatherhead, switchboard and all components installed. Full testing and sign-off before connection.
  5. Certification — Certificate of Compliance issued for all notifiable electrical work.

Timeline varies depending on Energex connection schedules — this is typically the longest part of the process. We'll advise on expected timeframes when you contact us.

Property Pole FAQ

Do I need a property pole or can I have underground power direct from the street?
It depends on Energex requirements for your area and the distance from the nearest network connection point. Some areas have underground supply available; others require an overhead connection via a property pole. We assess your specific site and advise which applies.
How long does a new rural connection take?
The electrical installation itself is usually one to two days. The variable is Energex — their application and connection process can take several weeks depending on workload and whether a new transformer is required. Start early if you're building.
Can you run power to a shed 200m from the house?
Yes. Long underground runs are common on rural blocks. The main considerations are cable sizing (larger cables for longer runs to compensate for voltage drop) and burial depth. We design the run correctly so your shed has proper voltage at the far end.
Do you dig the trenches for underground cable?
We typically coordinate with a civil contractor for trenching on long runs — it's faster and more cost-effective. For shorter runs, we may trench ourselves. We'll advise on the best approach for your job.
