Outdoor Lighting Installation — Noosa

Alfresco, garden, pathway, security and pool lighting across Noosa. We install LED outdoor lighting that's built to handle the coastal Queensland climate — properly wired, weatherproof and looking great.

Outdoor Lighting That Works and Lasts

Noosa homes are built for outdoor living — alfresco areas, pool decks, covered entertaining spaces and garden landscapes are central to the lifestyle here. Good outdoor lighting makes these spaces usable well into the evening and gives your property a completely different feel at night.

We install all types of outdoor lighting: in-ground uplights for trees and feature plantings, path lights along driveways and garden beds, LED step lights recessed into timber or concrete, weatherproof downlights for alfresco ceilings, security lighting with sensors, and festoon and exterior pendants for entertaining areas.

All outdoor lighting we install is rated for outdoor use, correctly IP rated for the location, and properly protected at the switchboard with safety switches. Coastal environments accelerate corrosion — we specify fittings that are suited to the Noosa climate.

Outdoor Lighting in the Noosa Climate

Salt air, high humidity, UV exposure and Queensland storm seasons take their toll on outdoor electrical fittings. We see a lot of outdoor lighting that fails within a couple of years because the wrong fittings were specified or installation wasn't done properly.

A few things to know:

  • IP ratings matter. Fittings have an ingress protection (IP) rating indicating resistance to water and dust. IP44 is minimum for most outdoor use; IP65 or IP67 is better for exposed areas.
  • Salt air affects metals. Coastal properties should use marine-grade stainless, marine-grade aluminium or powder-coated fittings rated for salt air environments.
  • UV-resistant materials. Standard plastic fittings degrade in Queensland sun. Look for UV-stabilised polycarbonate or metal fittings.
  • Safety switch protection is required. All outdoor lighting circuits must be protected by a safety switch (RCD) at the switchboard.

We specify fittings that are appropriate for the location and exposure. If you have fittings you'd like to use, we're happy to advise on suitability before installation.

Outdoor Lighting FAQ — Noosa

Can you install festoon lights or pendant lights under my alfresco?
Yes. We run the circuit and install a suitable outdoor-rated power point or hardwired connection for festoon lights, exterior pendants or party lights. We can also install a switchable circuit so they can be turned on from inside.
Do you supply the light fittings or do I need to?
Either way works. We can supply and install weatherproof fittings, or you can supply your own and we install them. If you supply fittings, we'll check they're suitable for the location before installing — it saves everyone the hassle of fittings that fail early.
Can you add outdoor lighting to an existing property without major disruption?
In most cases yes. We run cables through roof spaces and walls to minimise surface cabling. In some older homes or on larger garden cable runs, some surface conduit or trench work is needed — we'll plan the neatest route before starting.
Do sensor lights need to be hardwired or can they plug in?
Either is possible, but hardwired sensor lights are more reliable, look neater and can be positioned where there's no existing outlet. We install hardwired sensor lights commonly — they're not much more work than fitting a plug-in type and the result is cleaner.
